Artist's Statement

"Why do I express myself visually? I like my imagination; and it's easier than articulating my feelings. And to be quite honest - painting, cartooning and photography can be a great means for resolving personal issues.  I mean think about it - wouldn't it be great to see your process unfold right before your eyes?

I am from St. Lambert, Quebec.  At age 11 my family moved to Wichita, Kansas where I remained until my 4th year of university.  Schooled in Graphic Design back in the 80's,  it took me a move to Vermont and a additional 6 years of part-time schooling before I completed my B.A. (an independent study in communications).

Then I moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for five years, where I worked as a juvenile court arbitrator, a staffer for temp agencies, and tested the waters as an artist.

Currently I work as a para-educator for a local elementary school.  The children have taught me a great deal about my soul.  I strive to help these kids believe in themselves and their uniqueness.  In actuality, I am teaching what I most need to hear myself.

Through visual expression, I'm learning to understand myself and honour my truth.

Thank you for your reading (and viewing) time,

... Jennifer
