Since 1965, I have been involved with many trades within the marine industry. The wooden boats I have designed and built enjoy an international reputation for performance, style, and fine craftsmanship. Since 1978, operating as Onion River Boatworks, I have specialized in both the restoration of historic watercraft, as well as the construction of original designs based on traditional precepts.

About the drawings:
Drawing has long played an important role in boat building, where a high degree of order and method is essential. A set of drawings, or 'lines' is required not only for construction to begin, but also to aid in visualizing the finished hull, in choosing appropriate materials, analyzing costs, and estimating building time.
Sometimes I am called upon to provide drawings of an existing boat, usually one of special importance for which original documentation has been either destroyed or simply lost in the mists of time. By measuring an existing boat very carefully, I literally work backwards from the finished boat, and am able to produce a set of detailed plans. The drawings presented here are examples of that approach. These are prints of original pencil on mylar.
My work is available for study at research libraries at Mystic Seaport Museum, CT, The Mariner's Museum, VA, and will soon be part of the American Engineering Record at the Library of Congress.
Should you share a similar interest in small boats, I would like to hear from you.
